Maureen Czaykowsky, LMSW
Fully booked for now, but rooting for you! ✨
If you’re overwhelmed, healed-ish, and looking for a therapist who keeps it real, Maureen brings warmth, humor, and heart—Cuban-American, neurodivergent, loud-laughing, and full of corazón y sazón.
Hi, I’m Maureen (she/her)! Don’t let the last name fool you—we can thank my husband for that. I’m a Cuban-American therapist born and raised in Miami, and Cuban and Haitian roots are part of our family story. I’m a wife, millennial mom of two, neurodivergent with ADHD, fantasy-book lover, cafecito enthusiast, and very much “healed-ish.” I take therapy seriously, but I don’t believe it has to feel serious all the time. You might cry, laugh until we lose our train of thought, pick up a Spanish saying that perfectly fits the moment, or update me on whatever series you’re currently obsessed with. You’re a person I get to know and care about.
I work with adults, kids, and teens navigating trauma, neurodivergence, big changes, family dynamics, and relationship patterns. With adults, I’m especially drawn to those ready to understand old patterns, reconnect with themselves, and break cycles that no longer fit. I also support kids through ADHD, divorce or separation, grief, trauma, and big emotions, and teens through identity, friendships, relationships, overwhelm, and outside expectations.
My approach is trauma-focused, attachment-based, relational, experiential, and body-aware. I incorporate parts work, somatic and nervous-system-based approaches, ACT, and other experiential practices, and I’m beginning EMDR Basic Training to deepen and expand the trauma work I offer. Together, we get curious about what your nervous system learned, what different parts of you may be protecting, and what might help you feel safer, more connected, and more like yourself.
I believe healing starts in relationship. Trust, safety, honesty, and connection matter just as much as the tools we use. Therapy can become a place for corrective relational experiences—honesty without rejection, boundaries without abandonment, vulnerability without shame, and care that doesn’t have to be earned. Sometimes a client shares something they’ve carried shame around for years, braces for my reaction, and then realizes…I’m still right there. That moment is therapy too.
My style is warm, relational, down-to-earth, caring, and a little spicy. I’ll hype you up, laugh with you, gently call you in when the same pattern shows up again, and sit with you when there just aren’t words. You’ll probably hear me say things like “That makes so much sense,” “What does that part of you need?” “Where do you feel that?” “We gotta figure out what works for you,” and “¿Qué, qué?!”
I’m not interested in being the therapist who silently nods while you wonder what I’m thinking. I’m in the room with you. I ask questions, remember the little things, and genuinely care about what happens in your life between sessions. My clients are important to me, and I don’t take the trust they place in me lightly.
Trauma work with me isn’t about immediately digging into the worst thing that ever happened to you. We go gently and intentionally, building safety and trust first. We may notice what your body is doing, work with different parts of you, explore attachment patterns, process a memory, or use grounding and movement. And sometimes we laugh—a lot—because healing can be deep without being miserable every second.
When I work with kids, I often use play, art, movement, storytelling, and body-based regulation because kids often show us what they’re experiencing before they can explain it. With teens, I bring curiosity, humor, honesty, and plenty of room for them to be themselves without feeling like another adult is lecturing them. With adults, we may explore why your body panics when someone is upset with you, why rest makes you feel guilty, why you overfunction for everyone else, or why your logical brain knows you’re safe while another part of you is screaming, “Absolutely not.”
Outside of therapy, I’m all about cafecito, good music, good food, books, family, and laughing loudly. I keep it real and bring a little party-girl-turned-therapist energy into my work. Basically: professionally trained, clinically thoughtful…and still a Miami millennial at heart.
I also love taking mental health conversations outside of the therapy room through speaking engagements, workshops, and community education. Whether we’re talking about trauma, neurodivergence, parenting, relationships, emotional wellness, or whatever the community needs, I’m passionate about making mental health information feel approachable, relatable, and actually useful.
I offer therapy in English and Spanish, and my work is grounded in culturally responsive and identity-affirming care. Your culture, family, identity, neurotype, and lived experiences matter. Sometimes that means exploring generational patterns. Sometimes it means acknowledging that your family loves you deeply and gave you some things to unpack. Both can be true.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Barry University and am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). I continue to deepen my training in trauma-focused, relational, and body-based approaches. Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel more grounded in who you are, understand yourself with more compassion, and create healthier, more connected relationships with yourself and the people in your life.
Guiding Vibe: Messy is okay. We’ll figure it out together.
You don’t need the perfect words or your story perfectly organized. Come as you are. I’ll meet you with warmth, humor, honesty, cultural awareness, a little spice, probably a few well-placed “bros,” and a whole lot of care. Healing and self-discovery can be hard, but they can also be funny, messy, surprising, deeply human—and a really beautiful thing to do together.
