Book with Lakyah

Hi, I’m Lakyah (she/her)! I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep belief that healing happens through connection—both with ourselves and with others. I work with adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore what’s coming up for you at your own pace.

I believe our relationships—past and present—shape how we experience the world, ourselves, and one another. Having support, learning to recognize our needs, and feeling empowered to express them are all essential parts of growth. Just as important is developing self-compassion and trusting in your capacity for change. Therapy can be challenging work, but it’s also an opportunity to reconnect with yourself in meaningful ways and begin building the relationships you want and deserve.

My therapeutic style is collaborative, emotionally focused, and attachment-based. I primarily draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which explores early relationships and life experiences to better understand patterns that show up in the present. Together, we’ll gently uncover underlying emotions and unmet needs that may be contributing to dissatisfaction or disconnection in your life or relationships. When helpful, I also integrate additional approaches to best support your unique needs and goals.

In our sessions, you can expect a space that values curiosity, empathy, and collaboration. I work with clients from all backgrounds and have a strong interest in supporting diverse and minority populations. My goal is to walk alongside you as you strengthen your connection to yourself and others, while honoring the courage it takes to show up and do this work.

I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercer University. My work is guided by compassion, cultural awareness, and the belief that meaningful change begins when we feel seen, supported, and understood.

Guiding Vibe: Healing begins with connection—to yourself and to others.

If you’re feeling alone, disconnected, or unsure where to start, you don’t have to navigate it on your own. Therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect, and begin moving toward change—together.
