Kathryn Korte, MSW
Now welcoming new clients ✨
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating change, or just need life to feel a little more manageable, Kathryn brings warmth, humor, and practical tools—with zero pressure to have it all figured out.
Hi, I’m Kathryn Korte (she/her)! I’m a therapist with a Master of Social Work who is currently pursuing LMSW licensure. I work with kids, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, chronic stress, and the moments when life simply feels like a lot. As a bisexual woman and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, creating a space where people can show up authentically and feel accepted for who they are is especially important to me.
Outside of therapy, I’m a pet parent, creative, nature lover, and book lover—and lately, I’ve gotten into biking. I enjoy finding the things that bring a little joy, connection, or breathing room into everyday life, and I believe those moments matter, especially when things feel heavy.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and skills-focused, while also paying attention to the bigger picture of your life. I recognize that our mental health doesn’t exist in a bubble—our relationships, communities, identities, environments, and experiences can all shape how we feel and move through the world. My approach is informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and a systems-based perspective, which means we can work on practical tools for right now while also exploring what may be contributing to what you're experiencing.
When working with kids and teens, I like to make therapy feel approachable and engaging. We might use an activity, creative exercise, or conversation to explore what’s happening at school, in relationships, or around experiences like grief and change. My goal is to give young people room to express themselves while helping them build skills they can carry into everyday life. With adults, I take that same collaborative approach, helping you better understand what you're experiencing and find realistic ways to move forward.
In our sessions, you might hear me say, “Both can be true at the same time,” or “Can I offer some insight into what I’m seeing?” And sometimes, when we’re learning something new, you may hear, “I know you may find this a little corny, but I think we should give it a good ol’ college try.” I bring honesty, compassion, active listening, and humor into the room, while making sure there’s space for the hard stuff, too. During difficult moments, I’ll help you make room for what you’re feeling while gently reconnecting you with the things that bring you joy and remind you who you are outside of the struggle.
I earned my Master of Social Work from West Virginia University and am currently pursuing LMSW licensure. My work is guided by compassion, honesty, humor, and the belief that therapy can help you feel more capable and in control—not by having all the answers, but by building tools that actually work for your life.
Guiding vibe: Both can be true—you can be having a hard time and still be moving forward.
Showing up is enough for the first session. You don’t need the perfect words, a detailed plan, or everything figured out before you walk through the door. We’ll work together to understand what’s getting in the way, build skills that make life feel more manageable, and help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
