Amanda Desjardin, Intern
Now welcoming new clients ✨
If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, playful, and genuinely invested, Amanda brings curiosity, compassion, and connection into every session.
Hi, I’m Amanda (she/her)! I’m a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern who cares deeply about connection, compassion, and building meaningful relationships. I work with kids, teens, adults, couples, and families who are navigating things like anxiety, grief, relationship stress, life transitions, and ongoing overwhelm. My family roots trace back to Ireland and Germany, which has shaped my appreciation for resilience, family bonds, and honoring each person’s unique story and lived experience.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a special education teacher, an experience that taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and recognizing the strengths each person brings with them. Outside of therapy, I love things that spark curiosity and keep life interesting—escape rooms, movies, books, and meditation help me stay grounded and present. I’m also a partner, a pet parent, and a creative at heart.
In therapy, I’m warm, playful, and collaborative. I work to create a space where you feel safe enough to slow down, explore your thoughts and feelings, and move at a pace that feels right for you. What makes my approach personal is the mix of natural warmth, lighthearted energy, and genuine care for connection. Our work is always shaped around your strengths, goals, and story, with support that feels both grounding and encouraging.
You might hear me say things like “Take your time—I’m here with you,” “You’re not alone in this,” or “Let’s see if we can make sense of this together.” I often use simple metaphors—like challenges being hills or emotions acting like traffic lights—to help make complex experiences easier to understand. You can expect validation, practical tools, and a balance of depth and lightness, because growth doesn’t have to happen without laughter.
I’m currently working toward my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University and practicing as a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern under supervision. What guides my work most is compassion, curiosity, humor, and emotional safety, with a strong focus on building trusting, supportive relationships.
Guiding Vibe: A safe space to explore, grow, and laugh along the way.
Starting therapy can feel uncertain—or even a little scary—and that’s completely okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. This is a space where you’ll be seen, heard, and supported without judgment. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you and take things one meaningful step at a time.
