Book with Skyler

Hi, I’m Skyler (he/him)! I’m an Associate Professional Counselor, a Chilean-American and queer therapist, and someone who deeply values authenticity, curiosity, and connection. I work with adults, couples, and families navigating things like anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, big life transitions, generational patterns, and chronic stress. I also proudly offer LGBTQIA+-affirming, kink-positive, and polyamory/ENM-affirming care, creating a space where all parts of you are welcome.

Outside of therapy, I’m a lover of stories in all formsmusic, books, movies, theater, and television. I enjoy biking, traveling, spending time with people I’m close to, and engaging with the arts as a way to better understand different cultures, perspectives, and ways of being. That love of stories naturally shows up in my work, where your experiences, identity, and meaning-making take center stage.

In therapy, my style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I see our sessions as a place to explore, experiment, and learn—almost like a safe “lab” where we can try things out together and see what works best for you. What we discover in session can then be carried into your everyday life and adjusted as needed over time. I’m always open to feedback and conversation, because no single approach works for everyone, and therapy should feel personal, flexible, and responsive to your needs.

I take a nonjudgmental, client-directed, and culturally responsive approach, blending evidence-based tools with a person-centered foundation. Our work may involve emotional exploration early on, followed by deeper insight and practical, action-based changes as you feel ready. Whether we’re meeting in person or via telehealth, my goal is to help you feel comfortable being your authentic self—without censorship or pressure to show up any particular way.

You might hear me say things like “Let me meet you at your halfway point,” “Be your own best friend, not your own worst bully,” or “Any progress—no matter how small—is worth celebrating.” I often use metaphors, like imagining the future as a painting that becomes less detailed the farther out it goes, to remind clients that it’s okay for goals to be a little blurry—as long as they feel honest and meaningful right now. When it feels helpful, I may gently invite you to look at something from another perspective, especially if things feel too close or overwhelming to see clearly.

I earned my Master’s in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Clayton State University and currently practice as an Associate Professional Counselor. What guides my work most is compassion, cultural humility, respect for autonomy, and a deep belief in your inner wisdom—because no one knows you better than you.

Guiding Vibe: Life is too precious not to be lived as your authentic self.

If you’re considering therapy, know this: the fact that you’re here already means you’ve started the journey. You don’t have to do it alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you explore what matters most and move toward the life you want to build.
