Sanita Mitchell, Intern
Now welcoming new clients ✨
If you’re grieving, overwhelmed, or holding a lot quietly, Sanita’s your person—warm, grounded, faith-filled, and steady enough to sit with you through it all.
Hi, I’m Sanita Mitchell (she/her)! I’m a Therapist Intern and a first-generation therapist who believes deeply in creating a space where people feel seen, respected, and supported. I work with adults, couples, and families navigating grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, parenting support, generational trauma, pregnancy and infant loss, and career planning. My goal is to offer a calm, compassionate space where healing can unfold at your own pace.
I’m married and a proud mom of five, including one angel baby, and a grandmother of three. Outside of the counseling space, I cherish quiet moments by the water to relax and reflect, and I enjoy spending time in the kitchen trying new recipes. I’m also a mom to two fur babies, who bring lots of joy and laughter into my life.
In therapy, my style is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment, while also feeling gently guided toward growth. My approach is shaped by deep compassion, lived experience, and a strong respect for each person’s story. I integrate emotional awareness, practical tools, and meaning-making, while honoring faith and values when they are important to you. I believe healing happens best in a space that feels both safe and empowering.
When working with adults and couples, I focus on understanding patterns, strengthening communication, and increasing insight while offering tools that can be applied in everyday life. With families, I approach our work with curiosity and compassion, helping each voice feel heard while improving communication, reducing conflict, and strengthening connection. When working with children and teens, I use a gentle, developmentally appropriate approach that emphasizes emotional safety, trust, and expression, while collaborating with caregivers when appropriate.
You might hear me say things like “You don’t have to carry this alone,” “There’s no right or wrong way to feel here,” or “You’re allowed to take your time.” I often use metaphors such as emotions being waves, broken crayons still making beautiful pieces, or the idea that healing is a process of becoming, not fixing. During hard moments, I focus on affirming your resilience, encouraging gentleness with yourself, and reminding you that this moment does not define you.
I am working towards my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Pastoral Clinical Mental Health from Marymount University. I also have training in SYMBIS, Prepare/Enrich, and The Grief Recovery Method. What guides my work most is compassion, empathy, humility, safety, empowerment, and presence—along with a deep belief that growth is possible when people feel supported and understood.
Guiding Vibe: Let’s honor where you are without rushing where you’re going.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure where to begin. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start—just a willingness to show up. You deserve support, care, and a space where your story matters. We can take this journey one step at a time, together.
