My name is Joey Ngai! I am an intern therapist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and I’m currently finishing my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Georgia. I will also be graduating with a certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling. My passion is in working with children, teens, families, and young adults, aiming to prevent or lessen the impact of mental health problems in their later lives. My mission is to be your compassionate ally and to support and empower you through your feelings of stress, depression, and anxiety. Whether it be from life changes, relationship/family matters, school/work, and/or self-doubt, together, we will work on building your self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and resilience. I aim to provide you or your loved ones with the tools needed to overcome life challenges, heal from past traumas, and embrace positive change. Using an attachment-based approach, I help clients explore how their childhood experiences might impact their ability to form meaningful, loving, and lasting relationships with themselves and others. I understand that we are all unique in our experiences, strengths, and needs, so I hope to take a collaborative approach and tailor each session specifically for you. This could look like using expressive art-based therapy, play-based therapy, talk therapy, psycho-education, skills development, etc. I understand that opening up to a complete stranger and starting therapy can be scary, and I want you to know that you are not alone in your emotions. As a therapist that truly cares, I am here to provide a safe and understanding space for you to explore those feelings and begin your healing journey. If you are ready to take that courageous step toward growth and positive change, please know that I am here to support you every step of the way. Feel free to reach out, and together, we can work towards the life you have envisioned for yourself or your loved ones.
